Meet Allison
Hi all, and Welcome to Gluten Free From Home. I’m so happy you stopped by. My name is Allison and I created this blog. Gluten Free From Home is all about gluten free meal ideas and recipes.
First of all, what inspired me to start a gluten free food blog? I’ve always loved food and cooking. About three years ago, I was diagnosed with Celiac. Since then, it has been quite a journey for me. Let me just say that a gal who is used to eating Macaroni and Cheese, Fried Shrimp and Pasta was going to have quite an adjustment. There was definitely some initial shock in the beginning.
Since going gluten free, it has definitely been a bumpy road. I had to change how I cooked and baked. I would say that it took me about a year to feel confident in my new way of cooking and baking. For me, I knew I could make all my favorite meals be gluten free and taste delicious.
More About Myself:
I was born and raised in a small town in Massachusetts, the Berkshires. One of the best things about my childhood was my grandmother, who lived right next door on our five acres. My grandmother inspired in me a love of all things food. My mother was definitely the baker in the family. She taught me all the classics.
At a young age, I fell in love with the French language. It has always been my dream to move to France and learn how to cook like Julia Childs did.
I have a love for Classic music. I remember one day, when I was about 8 years old, I told my mom I wanted to learn how to play the piano. She went out and bought me a used piano. I started playing the first day I got it. I took lessons and really excelled. And I can honestly say that my love for classic music has only grown stronger.
Growing up, photography became a passion of mine. I learned how to take pictures with a manual camera and develop those images in the dark room. Taking pictures is truly a joy for me, and I cannot imagine not having a camera by my side.
Back in 2006, I gave birth to my son Ben. Every day, I am so grateful to be his mom.
In 2017, I purchased my first home. I have two Boston Terriers named Beau and Posey.
